Overview

The Atomic Man Triathlon is Tennessees oldest half iron distance event and part of the ATOMIC WEEKEND along with the Atomic Sprint Triathlon & Duathlon. 2013 celebrates the 11th year of the event that has won praises from athletes, spectators and officials as one of the best half iron distance races in the Eastern US. Awards 3 deep in 5 year age groups, Finishers Medal & apparel, packet includes Zorrel tech shirts, race socks, Hammer Products & more. Over $1k in door prizes from Rudy Project, XX2iOptics, XTERRA Wet Suits, GU & more.

RACE LOCATION- The TVA Melton Hill Recreation Area is located outside Lenoir City, TN just off Hwy 321/95. The race site is about 30 miles West of Knoxville. From I-40 exit #364 towards Oak Ridge approximately 1/2 mile to park entrance on your RIGHT Look for Mastercraft banner! The three large parking lots are 1.3 miles into the park on the left before the dam. Camping on site is $17 night/ per site. Hot showers!

USAT Info: ALL USAT RULES APPLY – Atomic Man Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned event. USAT officials will referee the event.

Course Description

SWIM START INFORMATION- The swim is a wave start from just outside the swim area at the dam end. The course will be a two loop rectangle finishing on the beach of the swim area. Swimmers will exit to beach each loop, re-entering after lap one. Keep buoys to your Right. Follow flagging to transition area. Water temp approx. 73.

BIKE COURSE- Bike course is shaped like a "T". Ride starts from the bottom for first and last 7 miles and completes two loops of the top for a total of 56 miles. Two water bottle exchanges at 22 & 43 miles. Bike Course map link: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/57509008 Cedar Bluff Cycles will be on-site for bike adjustments and help on the bike course.

RUN Course- The run is a scenic route through the TVA park, right on Woodlawn Road to left on Buttermilk, (Cones will mark course side of road – stay near cones to avoid cars). Follow to left on Davis Road to turnaround at Rocky Top Road. Return back same route to first loop turnaround just inside park. Runners will pass 14 aid stations on the two-loop course. Each will be will be ready with Gatorade, oranges, Hammer Gel, pretzels, water and ice. Race number will be marked at the three turn-arounds. Link to run map- two-loops:

Racing Strategy

Race packet includes the following: Zorrel performance shirt, custom Atomic Man logo socks, Hammer Nutrition products and discounts / coupons to area and national vendors. Pre-race meal is also included Saturday night at location TBD. Family & friends are welcome at cost.

Finishers items include: Finishers Medal, Finishers Hat & Finishers Certificate from PR Photo.

Awards: trophies to top 3 Male & Female Overall & Masters, custom Transition mats for top winners, 5 deep age group athletes & one deep relays. Award certificates for all category winners.

Event shirts are NOT guaranteed to participants registering late. Please register prior to the LATE REGISTRATION for each event to guarantee your race shirt.

Refund Policy

Endurance Sports Management has a NO REFUND policy. However, we do offer partial credits for cancellations during our cancellation periods. A credit for 75% of your race registration fee will be offered until 10 days prior to the race date.
